Our Army At War #90 “How Rock Got His Stripes” cover story with art by Joe Kubert.
This KEY edition has Sgt. Rock featured on the cover for the first time, reminiscing about his early days in the army as a buck private. As the hero narrates, Joe Kubert transitions from framed to open panels that comprise most of the story. The opening splash is nearly identical to his cover, but noticeably improved in both theme and layout. Kubert's interiors are visceral and compelling, aided by his dynamic sequencing throughout. Other artists in this silver age comic include Jerry Grandenetti
